This journal encourages you to take simple steps to overcome anxiety and become an effective responder.
First, employ the steps of the S.O.A.R. strategy to break the grip of fear. After releasing the tension that accompanies negative thoughts, practice responding, instead of reacting, by rehearsing the steps of the R.I.S.E. strategy.
When I was younger, I didn’t realize the importance of recognizing my thoughts and how they made me feel. Negative feelings would then lead to negative actions or no action at all. Then, one significant day, I got a wake-up call from the ocean.
I write about my life-changing revelation in my book, BREAK THAT GRIP…LESSONS FROM THE OCEAN OF LIFE, which explains how and why I created these strategies to soothe the feelings of fear, uncertainty, and doubt that can keep me stuck and bring me down.
The more people who learn and implement the S.O.A.R. and R.I.S.E. strategies, the better our chance of significantly improving ourselves, our families, our communities, and our nation.
Plan a time to sit down with your journal. Recognize your highs and lows, and then let your thoughts flow.
Attempt to communicate. If you mess up, at least you made an effort, which shows you care about yourself and others. Get back to this journal, and then try again.
You'll eventually have a new perspective on your life and what matters most to you.
